Montenegro is a Mediterranean country in Southeastern Europe. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the southwest.

Lovćen is a mountain and national park in southwestern Montenegro. The specific connection of the life conditions has stipulated the development of the different biological systems. There are 1,158 plant species on Lovćen, out of which four are endemic. The biggest and most important monument of Lovćen national park is Petar Petrović Njegoš’s Mausoleum. The location for his burial place and the mausoleum at the summit of Jezerski vrh was chosen by Njegoš himself as his last wish.
The Tara River Canyon, also known as the Tara River Gorge, is the longest canyon in Montenegro. It is 82 kilometers (51 miles) long and is 1,300 meters (4,300 feet) at its deepest, making it the deepest river canyon in Europe. The canyon is protected as a part of Durmitor National Park and is a tentative UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Tara River cuts through the canyon.

The Monastery of Ostrog is a monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church placed against an almost vertical background, high up in the large rock of Ostroška Greda, in Montenegro. It is dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog (Sveti Vasilije Ostroški). From the monastery, a superb view of the Bjelopavlići plain can be seen. Ostrog monastery is the most popular pilgrimage place in Montenegro.

The Durmitor is a massif and the name of a national park in northwestern Montenegro. The highest peak, Bobotov Kuk, reaches a height of 2,522 meters. The massif is limited by the Tara River Canyon on the north, the Piva River Canyon on the west, and by the Komarnica River Canyon on the south. To the east, the Durmitor opens to a 1,500 m (4,921 ft) high plateau, called Jezerska Površ (Plateau of Lakes). The Sinjavina mountain is located to the east of Jezerska Površ plateau.
Biogradska Gora is a forest and a national park in Montenegro within Kolašin municipality.
